A vital element of our work centres around strengthening the wider mutual sector. We work closely with sister organisations that share similar goals in the UK and internationally, and undertake a range of valuable activities regarding the scale and relevance of the mutual sector.

We develop joint education opportunities, contribute to the work of these organisations where we can, and learn from their approach.  In the UK, we also undertake a wide range of combined parliamentary lobbying work.

AFM is a subscriber to the international mutual insurance trade bodies, AMICE and ICMIF, and we share reciprocal membership with two other UK mutual trade bodies, the BSA and Co-operatives UK.

We are also a Supporting Institution of the UN Environment Programme’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance.

See below for more.

The vision of the PSI Initiative is of a risk aware world, where the insurance industry is trusted and plays its full role in enabling a healthy, safe, resilient and sustainable society.

The mutual insurance sector in the UK has a long pedigree of working in the best interests of its customers- who are also its owners- and for the benefit of the communities it operates in.  By becoming a Supporting Institution, AFM is reinforcing that commitment.  For more, go to: www.unepfi.org/psi/vision-purpose/
