AFM members are progressing on their climate change journeys.  Good progress appears to be made in terms of measuring and managing scope 1 and 2 emissions and targets, which are necessary to get Board, executives and staff focused on climate change.  The main components of emissions for most AFM members are, however, the financed emissions arising from investment portfolios. The purpose of this session is to open up a discussion about the assessment of the carbon footprint of investment portfolios and the options available.  During this session we will discuss:

• the case for developing your own approach to measure the carbon footprint from investments and monitor the investment managers’ progress in reducing carbon emissions;
• where more than one investment manager is engaged, the challenge of developing an aggregated view of carbon emissions;
• the potential links to climate change disclosures, regulatory expectations and scenario testing; and
• the range of tools available
